If you have followed ZU, you’ll recall us doing a beta test run of a forthcoming project a few months ago. Well, that time is upon us. The second official rehearsal for the spy-game Dark Tour “The Hunt of the ScareCROWS” occurred on Wednesday night.

This Dark Tour will not be restricted to one playing space, but instead will occur in various locations in Kingsville, TX. Performance is slated for later this month and more details are forthcoming.

3HT - Working w cast

Our “Three Hour Theatre” (ZERO-102) event went over swimmingly. With around 30 people crammed into Fresh Café in Corpus, we mounted several new plays written by local playwrights and two outside of the Coastal Bend area. Our featured playwrights were Anel Carmona from New York City and Gabriel Ruiz from San Antonio. Carmona, who has done several off-Broadway plays, live-streamed her play in. The other featured playwright, Mr. Ruiz, attended the event. The playwrights were given one hour to write a play, the next hour to rewrite/edit/workshop the play in the rehearsal process. Finally, the plays were presented after the workshopping has been completed.

In no particular order, these are the following plays and their respective casts:

“Wait For It!”  directed by Beth Marie Cantu

Logan – Josue “Zeta” Villarreal

Bel – Tabitha Perez

Old Man – Emanuel Ibanez

“Fact: The Stars Are Dead” by Julio Martinez, directed by Emanuel Ibanez

Doctor Faustus Succeeds as 100th Show!

Our 100th show, “The Tragical History of the Life and Death of Doctor Faustus,” was an immense success! Our first performance at Presbyterian Pan American School boasted over 100 audience members, and our other two performances, at Texas A&M University-Kingsville and Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi were full of great audiences too.
