Art Imitates Life

Art imitates life in the latest series of poetry videos from Zero Untitled. In “A Slower Existence” by Katherine Orozco-Verderber , a woman appears quarantined for an unknown reason. In this expository poem, it establishes the world that will be developed in future poetry videos that expand on the same theme. “A Slower Existence” is part I.

New video – “Brush the Concrete Gently”

A brand new video, shot back in December in New Orleans, is now available for viewing on YouTube and at this site. The video features three different works: two poems (one by Gabriel Ruiz and another by Katherine Orozco-Verderber) and some slow music written and performed by Michael Verderber. This video, “Brush the Concrete Gently” is our 133rd production and will be the first of several short film works we intend to produce.

Shows Delayed

As with most theatres around the country, we will not have live staged productions for the next month or so, pending the outcome of COVID-19. Our productions of “The Remains of Neverland” and “Lard Ass” will be delayed until later in the year.
Meanwhile, we will continue to produce smaller works such as poetry videos and #ZeroLife works. We know that this time is bad for everyone, so we want to do our part and give you something to watch during the quarantine.

In the meantime, watch some of our new content on the newer ZeroUntitledFilms YouTube page or the old (no longer updated) Zero Untitled YouTube account:

Surprise video!

An unscheduled video just popped up into our productions! As an entry to the #StylophoneGenR8Comp synthesizer competition, DJ Oringe / Michael Verderber put together this video from the complete track from “Zellen”, footage from the “in[somnia]” trailer, and some new footage! We wish him luck in the contest! The video is viewable above!

The eleventh trip into darkness begins soon.

The eleventh Dark Tour is finally upon us! February marks a return to the Carroll Ward (home to 2016’s “Neverland Lost” production). “The Remains of Neverland” returns the Dark Tour to its roots in both production and performance space. Collaborating with Gamerz Elite, they have rented the entirety of Sam Fore Hall (home to the first six Dark Tours) to bring the next major production to light.

Rehearsals have already on the work, with a guerilla advertising campaign starting soon featuring the Carroll Ward’s logo (seen at left). Making an appearance in the production will be familiar characters such as Hansel, Rapunzel, Pinocchio, and many others.

Cast information is on the official show page.

“The Mattress” NOW has you…

Enjoy our latest and weirdest film to date – THE MATTRESS, a comedic puppetry spoof of “The Matrix” film. Written by Erik Helsing and directed by Michael Verderber, this is the first premiered project in our OBJECT-ionable Puppetry series. The newly formed series, explores utilizing multiple forms of puppetry using “found” objects instead of using traditionally constructed puppets.

Principal editing was done by Amber Badger (previously assisted in “Zellen”) and features the voice work of veterans Robert Trujillo, Josue Villarreal, and Justin Minter. Puppeteers were Andrea Lorin, Michael Verderber, and Katherine Orozco-Verderber.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!!

Ringing in the Holidays

What do puppets, marshmallows, and bread have in common? They are all features in our #ZeroLife video projects and trailers for forthcoming works. We have a handful of video projects lined up and already out, so here is a quick recap of this month’s goodies. We have a trailer for our upcoming puppetry film “The Mattress”, a #ZeroLife of the gang eating gross marshmallows, and an upcoming Christmas song that will be posted soon.

As promised, “Banana But Bread”:

Zero Untitled is juggling several short works that will culminate into our annual Christmas-themed show – “Textual Let It Snow-verture” (curated by Julio Martinez)! For a few weeks now, two short plays “A Merry Delta Christmas” (by Katherine Orozco-Verderber) and “Rekindled” (by Michael Verderber) have been in the rehearsal process, Premature Punchline (our in-house comedy troupe) have been developing holiday-themed games, and Christmas songs are being rehearsed as well.

See at left: Ashley, Stephanie, and McKinna rehearsing “Christmas Party Quirks.” Performance is scheduled for December 6th and 7:00 at The Flower Box in Kingsville, TX. Admission is FREE.

Below are photos of the rehearsal process, so far.
